Country Comes Home to 2016 Merritt Rockin’ River FestJanuary 18, 2016
Merritt, BC: Happening July 28-31, 2016 in beautiful Merritt, British Columbia, the Merritt Rockin’ River Fest is going back to its country roots with a line-up that features top-selling country artists and Canadian legends.
“As an artist I got my start right here in Merritt,” says president and founder Kenny Hess. “It means a lot to be able to provide a place to showcase our own Canadian-grown talent,” says Hess.
2015 CCMA award for CMT video of the year Upside Down and multi JUNO and CCMA award winner Dean Brody is ready to rock Merritt this summer. Songs from the Canadian star’s recently released fifth studio album Gypsy Road will undoubtedly be among the encore requests at the show. Also confirmed for this year’s show is none other than CMT Artist of the Year winner Sam Hunt. The Georgia-bred guitarist, pianist and songwriter, who is known for his gifted athletic abilities, is taking North America by storm with his Leave the Light On, House Party and Take Your Time singles.
Hitmaker and baritone crooner John Michael Montgomery, who is best known for singles such as I Swear, Letters from Home, Sold (The Grundy Country Auction Incident) and The Little Girl, is also confirmed to perform during the event.
Canadian brothers who make up the duo High Valley is another much anticipated act. The born-and-bred Alberta farm boys have proven their talent throughout North America and today have countless awards and JUNO nominations under their belt.
Known in music circles as one of the most-loved country party bands on the West Coast, 2015 was a big year for the Chris Buck Band who performed at more than 150 dates across North American and was named the BCCMA 2015 Group of the Year.
A True Country Festival for the Whole Family
The Merritt Rockin’ River Fest features acres of camping facilities located within the grounds of what is arguably the premier outdoor music festival site in the country. This fest, which is all about living life in the moment and where everyone is a friend, is held over four days (July 28-31, 2016) and features three stages and more than 20 artists performing throughout the event. Children 12 and under are free.
“The festival’s location is deeply rooted in country music history,” adds Hess. “We plan on returning to the origins of Canada’s country music history in 2016, and look forward to welcoming music enthusiasts from across North America to the event.”Return to Media Page
