Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Rockin River MusicFest! We are grateful for volunteer support and look forward to facilitating a fun and rewarding volunteer experience.

We use an online interactive portal to manage our volunteer program. This user-friendly hub is where volunteers will learn about the festival and our volunteer program, self-schedule when the time comes, and prepare for service. We will send clear and easy instructions at each step of the process. Computer access and an email address are required to participate.


Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be in order to volunteer?

We are looking for volunteers aged 18 years or older as of July 1, 2022. We do allow minors (16 or 17 years old) however only when accompanied by a legal parent or guardian working the same volunteer shifts.

What is required of volunteers?

Volunteers are required to work a minimum of 20 hours over the event, wear their volunteer t-shirt and accreditation while on duty, and attend an orientation and preparation session before the festival.

What do I get in return for volunteering?

Aside from being an integral part of the return of this beloved event, meeting lots of people, making new friends, and creating life-long memories, we also offer the following rewards:

Volunteering for up to 22 hours:

  • Volunteer t-shirt
  • Daily festival wristband for each day that you volunteer
  • One tent or RV campsite in volunteer camping (*2-4 person occupancy – volunteers only, power not provided)
  • Complimentary onsite parking

Volunteering for more than 22.5 hours:

  • TWO volunteer t-shirts
  • Small festival merchandise item
  • Daily festival wristband each day you volunteer
  • Additional access when not working
  • One tent or RV campsite in volunteer camping (*2-4 person occupancy – volunteers only, power not provided)
  • Complimentary onsite parking
Where and when is the Orientation session?

We are looking to offer virtual and in-person options. These details will be confirmed and shared with the team at a later date.

Where will volunteers be assigned?

Primary assignments include but are not limited to:

  • Camping / Parking – assisting checking in vehicles
  • Entry gates – greeting attendees, affixing wristbands
  • Ticketing – scanning tickets as patrons enter the festival site
  • Volunteer HQ and program leadership
How does scheduling work?

Volunteers will be able to self-schedule, choosing their own shifts and assignments based on availability at the time of scheduling. Once we finalize deployment needs, an online schedule will be posted for all accepted volunteers.

What dates are volunteers needed for Rockin River MusicFest?

We look for support with set up a few days prior to the festival and need some assistance on the Monday after, however the majority of support is required on event days, July 28-31.

What if I can’t self-schedule for exactly 20 hours once it’s time to sign up?

20 volunteer hours is the minimum commitment. Although four 5-hour shifts will get you there, you may have to work longer to meet the requirement (E.g. five 4.5-hour shifts) . Deployment needs will be determined in the coming weeks. Shift lengths will vary but most will land at 4.5-5 hours.

What if I want to enjoy the festival before I’ve earned access?

Great idea! We highly recommend getting familiar with the event before you volunteer; however we need some assurance that volunteers will report back when scheduled. In this case, you would be required to check an item of equal or greater value to a single day ticket ($200). This could be cash, a functioning cell phone, your current driver’s license PLUS a major credit card, etc. Check your item at Volunteer Headquarters and pick it up when you return for duty.

Is food included?

Food is an integral part of Rockin River. We encourage checking out our vendors and purchasing some tasty bites before or after your shift. We will provide a modest bagged lunch for any shifts lasting longer than 5 hours on festival days. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own snacks to enjoy (no glass containers please). We highly recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.

When can I self-schedule?

Great question! We are determining support needs and anticipate opening the schedule for sign up by mid-June. Sign up will take a couple of weeks as we open it to returning volunteers first, followed by new team members. Our goal is to have the schedule locked by the end of June.

What happens if I don’t complete my volunteer commitments?

We ask that volunteers only sign themselves up for shifts they are certain they can commit to. Not fulfilling your commitments would result in the loss of your volunteer rewards including the cancelation of your wristband and would affect your ability to volunteer for this and other events in the future.

Is parking and/or camping included?

Yes! See volunteer rewards listed above.

What if there’s an artist I HAVE to see?

We get it, but this means that volunteering is not for you. Grab some friends, purchase your tickets, and have a fantastic time. Although volunteers will get to enjoy the festival when not working, we can’t guarantee that you will be able to see your band of choice. If you can’t miss out, please opt out.
